"As long as some people still think they have the right to decide who other people fall in love with then there’s still work to be done.”

As promised, Sigur Rós have commissioned a special marriage equality t-shirt ahead of their gig at Melbourne's Margaret Court Arena this month.

The Icelandic outfit last month condemned homophobic comments made by Margaret Court and announced all proceeds made from the shirt would go towards Australian Marriage Equality.

Sigur Rós approached London-based illustrator Andrew Rae to create a special crest.

"What an amazing commission, combining awareness about marriage equality with the amazing Sigur Rós in a hand drawn crest to raise money to support Australian Marriage Equality… of course I'm saying yes," Rae said.

"That anyone still has to raise awareness about marriage equality in this day and age seems bizarre to me.

"As long as some people still think they have the right to decide who other people fall in love with then there’s still work to be done."

The t-shirt will be available at all of Sigur Rós' Australian performances, including Splendour In The Grass.

Aussie rockers Grinspoon took a similar approach to their concert at Margaret Court Arena last month by releasing a shirt with the tag, 'Marriage Equality Arena'.
