Much-loved New Zealand rockers Shihad have today been named as the national support for the upcoming Black Sabbath tour.
Cross-Tasman rock royalty Shihad will join the heavy metal pioneers on their return to Australian shores for the first time in 40 years this April and May. The slot is a testament to Shihad's stamina during their 25 year career which (despite ups and downs – Pacifier anyone?) has rarely seen them slow down.
The band's drummer Tom Larkin commented today, “Well, 25 years on the horse and we get to do this. Fuck. Yes.”
Shihad will record their ninth album in this, their 25th anniversary year, with producer Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke and will also play a handful of European festivals. Tickets to the Sabbath shows are on sale now:
Thursday 25 April – Brisbane Entertainment Centre
Saturday 27 April – Allphones Arena, Sydney
Monday 29 April – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne (second show)
Wednesday 1 May – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne (sold out)
Saturday 4 May – Perth Arena
