Seth SentryFor the past eight weeks, Channel [V] have been putting a call out to the Australian public to vote for who they believe is the country's finest artist. Well, the votes have been tallied – all 1.66 million of them! – and Melbourne hip hop man of the moment Seth Sentry crowned the winner.
What started as a list of 50 acts ended up being whittled down to just four in the final round, with Sentry up against indie kids Ball Park Music and pop stars Reece Mastin and Delta Goodrem.
It caps off what has been an enormous year for Sentry, seeing him release his debut album This Was Tomorrow, which entered the ARIA charts in the number six position, and dominating festivals such as Sprung, Fat As Butter and BIGSOUND Live. He will be hoping for an even bigger 2013 as he heads over to the US to begin showcasing for industry over there, a journey which will include a trip to the SxSW showcase series in Austin.
As winner of the Channel [V] competition, Sentry will launch the network's new Island Parties, playing Sydney Harbour on Monday 17 December.
Sentry joins the likes of 360, The Veronicas, Guy Sebastian and Silverchair, who have all taken out the award in past years.
