Our October edition of See For Free has landed!
In September, we brought you a brand new monthly feature of ours called See For Free. Exactly as it sounds, it's your Purple Sneakers avenue to jet to when your wallet is empty, yet your heart craves full.
The first week of October has come and gone, already ticking off Flako's free show at GoodGod hosted by Red Bull Music Academy in Sydney, as well as the Spring Twilight Bazaar Festival in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley. Though this still leaves the rest of the month, and as always, there's still some free shows to head along to.
So whether you're in for a big night or just happen to be passing through, here's a small yet mighty selection that we've sourced for you to get down to along Australia's East Coast this September!
SYDNEY:

MOVEMENT
Topman, George Street
Date: Thursday, 10th October
Their latest track 'Us' has not only been praised with high rotation on multiple Australian radio stations, it's just been remixed by Canadian producer Giraffage and has also allowed the group to be able to launch it live at the close of this month! Though that is a ticketed event, you can catch the boys earlier at Sydney's Topman store this Thursday at 7pm. On top of free entry, there'll be Sol beer and H2Coco (coconut water) provided. We're not complaining!
JENNY BROKE THE WINDOW
Oxford Art Factory's Gallery Bar
Date: Friday, 18th October
Making music for three years now, the group have recently climbed to the #3 spot on Triple J Unearthed's Indie Chart. They've also been making sure they're playing as much live shows as possible it seems, with a Sydney set at Brighton Up Bar this Thursday. Though it would be nice to pay for that gig and support them, I'll have you know they'll be just across the road next week at OAF's always free Gallery Bar!
MELBOURNE:
JILLIONAIRE (MAJOR LAZER) (plus more TBA)
Laundry Bar, Fitzroy
Date: Wednesday, 9th October
Headlining the Scattermusic party, Jillionaire (also known for his inclusion in Major Lazer) will be putting on a free show at Laundry Bar. Considering the reputation he's built for himself over the past 15 years which has seen him play shows and music festivals all over the world, as well as worked with some big names, you'd be a fool to miss out on this free live show! Be sure to get down early though, as there isn't any RSVPs! Check out the Facebook event HERE.
WORLD'S END PRESS
Topman, Chapel Street
Date: Friday, 11th October
The same deal with Movement, World's End Press will be taking the entertainment reigns for Melbourne's Topman party the following night! They've just released their debut, self-titled album only a few days ago, so it's a pretty damn good opportunity to catch some fresh material for absolutely no cost! They'll also be starting at 7pm, with free beverages also available. #Farshuuuun
SPECIAL MENTIONS
Trivia. Whether you're too proud to deem it fun or are a member of the undefeated team at your local pub, you can't deny that it's a pretty good time. Although I guess that does depend on what theme of trivia you're playing..
Thankfully, Sydney's GoodGod Small Club have started up their own trivia night each Wednesday from 7pm in the front bar. Though their version doesn't test your knowledge on just anything, they have specified nights on certain TV shows, musicians and movies! Coming up in October will see nights on Parks & Recreation, Man Men, Kanye West and The Simpsons. Check out the official roster HERE.
