One of Drake’s security guards has been “seriously injured” in a shooting outside the rapper’s Toronto mansion, The Guardian reports.

The shooting happened early on Tuesday morning (7 May), with the male security guard rushed to hospital after suffering severe yet “non-life-threatening” injuries.

CNN reports that police are investigating the incident. Toronto Police Inspector Paul Krawczyk revealed that police had recovered video footage of the shooting from surveillance cameras, and the security guard remains in hospital.

Krawczyk said it’s too early to discuss motive when asked if Drake’s ongoing feud with rapper Kendrick Lamar had a part to play in the incident. However, Krawczyk revealed that there were multiple suspects to investigate after they left the area in a vehicle.

“It is so early in the investigation that we don’t have a motive at this time,” Krawczyk commented.

Reporters asking about the feud have something to go on: Kendrick Lamar’s latest song in a growing collection of diss tracks, Not Like Us, included allegations of paedophilia.

Though thinly veiled in the last few tracks, Lamar hadn’t said it explicitly about Drake until he released Not Like Us.

“Say, Drake, I hear you like 'em young / You better not ever go to cell block one / To any bitch that talk to him and they in love / Just make sure you hide your lil' sister from him,” Lamar rapped.

He continued: “Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles.”

“Why you trollin' like a bitch? Ain't you tired? Tryna strike a chord and it's probably A minor.”

In addition to the song, the album art is a satellite image of Drake’s mansion property.

Drake’s feud with Kendrick Lamar follows the release of his most recent album, For All The Dogs, which he followed up with the announcement that he’d be taking a break from music.

Hours after For All The Dogs dropped, Drake revealed that he’d take a “year or so” away from music to deal with health issues.

The announcement arrived during a recent episode of Drake’s SiriusXM podcast, Table For One.

Citing “the craziest problems” with his stomach, he explained, “I probably won’t make music for a little bit. I need to focus on my health, first and foremost, and I’ll talk about that soon enough.

“Nothing crazy, but just like, you know, I want people to be healthy in life, and I’ve been having the craziest problems for years with my stomach. So, I need to focus on my health, and I need to get [that] right.”

He added, “I have a lot of other things that I would love to focus on. So, I’ma lock the door in the studio for a little bit. I don’t even know what a little bit is. Maybe a year or so, maybe a little longer.”
