The Sapphires Soundtrack Cracks Top 20 On ARIA Chart

Plan B was the highest album debut this week

The soundtrack to the new Australian film The Sapphires has cracked the top 20 of the ARIA Album Chart this week, debuting at 17 – the highest spot for a local release.

The soundtrack features Jessica Mauboy – who also stars in the film – as well as Sam & Dave, Lou Bennett, Juanita Tippens, Jade MacRae and Darren Percival and also ranked 17 in the Digital Album chart.

The highest debut in the charts this week was Plan B's Ill Manors, while the Elton John and Pnau collaboration Good Morning To The Night debuted at 40.

Featuring at 44 on the albums chart this week, the Olympic Opening Ceremony soundtrack Isles Of Wonder was a much higher ninth on the Digital Album charts.

Karise Eden held her number one spot with My Journey, an album from her time on The Voice.

There is also a local act topping the singles chart this week as Justice Crew climbed to the top with Boom Boom, as was predicted. The Veronicas' comeback single Lolita managed 29 in its first week, and is expected to climb from there. Ricki-Lee's latest Crazy snuck in at 46.
