American singer-songwriter Ryan Adams will return to Australia in October 2025 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his breakthrough solo debut album, Heartbreaker.

This is his first tour down under since May 2017. Adams was due to tour Australia earlier this year, but the shows were cancelled due to illness. The Heartbreaker anniversary tour is massive, taking Adams through Australia and New Zealand.

According to a press release, Adams is set to offer up an intimate, acoustic set that highlights his massive career, with the Heartbreaker hits Oh My Sweet Carolina, Come Pick Me Up, and To Be Young (Is To Be Sad, Is To Be High) to be performed live.

The tour begins at Perth’s Astor Theatre on Saturday, 4 October, followed by dates at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre (Tuesday, 7 October), Brisbane’s Eatons Hill Hotel (Thursday, 9 October), Sydney’s Darling Harbour Theatre, ICC Sydney (Friday, 10 October), and ends at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall on Sunday, 12 October.

Following the Australian dates, Adams will head to New Zealand, playing at the Isaac Theatre Royal in Christchurch on Wednesday, 15 October, Wellington’s Michael Fowler Centre on Friday, 17 October, and Auckland’s Bruce Mason Centre on Saturday, 18 October.

Adams’ forthcoming tour is his first in Australia since allegations of sexual misconduct against him surfaced in 2019.

The New York Times reported that “seven women and more than a dozen associates described a pattern of manipulative behavior [sic] in which Adams dangled career opportunities while simultaneously pursuing female artists for sex.”

Some of the people who came forward with allegations were musicians Phoebe Bridgers, Courtney Jaye, and Adams’ ex-wife, actress and musician Mandy Moore.

In response to the allegations, Adams took to social media and apologised to “anyone I have ever hurt, however unintentionally.”

He continued, “The picture that this article paints is upsettingly inaccurate. Some of its details are misrepresented; some are exaggerated; some are outright false. I would never have inappropriate interactions with someone I thought was underage. Period.”
