Ruby Rose Earns Two Months In Hungary Top 40

Television personality turned DJ and vocalist Ruby Rose is proving a surprise hit in Hungary, with her track with London-based Gary Go, Guilty Pleasure, currently enjoying its eighth week in the chart.

The track, which failed to resonate with the Australian audience when released locally last year, is at 38 this week and managing its eighth straight week in the top 40 singles. It was down from 29 and had peaked at 25. As of the end of July the track had been on the Hungarian Radio Top 40 for 18 consecutive weeks, according to its label Universal.

Produced by Stuart Crichton, today Go told theMusic.com.au that the trio were “pleasantly surprised” with the chart success.

“The song came about totally by chance,” he said. “Stuart, myself and Ruby were at a songwriters retreat in Indonesia, living in a recording studio. One day the three of us got in a room and the song was born. Stuart's an incredible producer, with an amazing history making big club records and Ruby was just starting to explore her own songwriting/artist career, evolving from her already established DJ/VJ career.”

He said they were looking forward to “more hits in Hungary” and believed that Rose could establish a long-term career in the region.
