Sydney indie pop duo Royel Otis are back in a big way with the release of their new album Sofa King, their single Going Kokomo, as well as the news that they’ll be embarking on a headline tour this July.
Following the release of 2022’s Bar ‘N Grill, Sofa Kings takes us on a journey across seven tracks of sunny alt-pop, as Otis Pavlovic and Royel Maddel take a progressive leap forward from the infectious melodies and quick-witted songwriting they are known for and land with a cleverly composed gusto.
Produced by Chris Collins and Royel Otis, the album, which features recent singles Kool Aid, I Wanna Dance With You and title track Sofa King, promises to continue luring new fans in with the guys' visceral stories, quick wit and blissful guitar-fuzzed haze.
“Sofa Kings is our tribute to all the used, soiled, stained and discarded furniture that served us so well through all highs and lows. From soggy sheets to baggy beats, relaxing times to guitar lines… Sofa Kings have got it all,” Royel Otis said of the album.
“With all songs written in the key of T minor 7. Let all those who wanna sprint to the finish line do their thing cause you wanna take it all in... Or just sit on the couch for a bit. You’re the master of your domain. Move at your own pace ya. Don’t second guess yourself, all will eventually see the glory that is you.”
As if new tunes weren’t exciting enough, the boys also announced that their set to hit the road in July for their largest headline shows to date which will see them hit Melbourne, Sydney and Wollongong throughout July.
