More Robert Forster More Robert Forster

Veteran Aussie musician and The Go-Betweens co-founder Robert Forster is making a return to the limelight this year with the impending release of his first album since 2008, Songs To Play, and he's covering all bases with the release of a brand new video and keenly received announcement of a national tour in December.

Although Songs To Play won't be released until 18 September, fans can get an early taste of what to expect from the new work in the form of the new clip for debutant album cut Let Me Imagine You, which Forster describes as "a pop song — and I love writing pop songs".

"It's a plea for the use of imagination in the modern world," he said of the track.

The clip itself takes a 'live performance' format, capturing Forster and his new band in action during their preparatory rehearsals in Brisbane ahead of recording the album. Check it out below.

No album release would really be complete without a set of complementary tour dates, but Forster's no slouch in this department either, having set up a run of shows in support of Songs To Play following its release, getting under way at The Triffid, in Brisbane, on Saturday, 21 November, and taking in performances at The Clarendon Guesthouse (Katoomba, Wednesday, 25 November), Oxford Art Factory (Sydney, 26 November), Thornbury Theatre (Melbourne, 27 November) and the Queenscliff Music Festival (28 November).

Tickets for Forster's shows are available via the venues (Brisbane, Katoomba, Melbourne), Moshtix (Sydney) and the QMF website. See theGuide or check The Music App for more information.
