"It's a memoir, it's about a friendship that then goes into a band."
In a lengthy interview with BBC Radio 6, The Go Betweens' Robert Forster has dished out the first details of his upcoming book about his late bandmate and long-time friend, GW McLennan.
"It is just about finished. I've been working on this book for seven years. It's coming out in Australia on August 27 by Penguin Books," Forster tells the radio station.
"The book's called Grant & I, it's a memoir, it's about a friendship that then goes into a band. It's not a normal— Go Betweens as you know were not a normal band, with anything like a normal career, so it sort of covers that and it covers the friendship I had with Grant."
The news of the book comes as Forster and the music industry last month honoured 10 years since McLennan's passing of a heart attack in 2006.

Forster explains that the book is merely waiting for final changes to be made before 10 June, before it is sent for publishing.
"It's currently probably sitting in publishing houses around the world as we try and get distribution, picked up around the world. It'll come out first in Australia.
"It's very exciting, it's the first book I've ever written from beginning to end and it'll come out in late August."
