Revered WA Music Industry Identity Enters Politics

20 December 2016 | 2:09 pm | Staff Writer

“We need to better value our creative people in building our future."

It seems the creative community is always fighting to prove its worth, with the Government frequently cutting funding to different sectors or not valuing it as highly as other industries, so news that WA music industry identity Michael Tucak is stepping into politics is a big win for the creative landscape.

Tucak has been a long-standing member of the WA scene for several years, primarily working as a creative industries lawyer, but also on the committee of FringeWorld Festival, the Chamber of Arts and Culture and more, alongside his duties as a presenter on RTRFM.

In the March 2017 election, Tucak will stand as an independent candidate in the upper house seat of North Metropolitan.

"I want to make that difference to how our state develops and represent a creative, future looking approach to how we get there,” Tucak said.

"As an independent, I hope to offer voters an alternative, for a positive change in our parliament and our future.”
