Red Symons Will Be Back On Air Next Week

Radio host and ex-Skyhooks axeman Red Symons will make his return to the airwaves on ABC Melbourne next week after a two-month absence following a serious fall that resulted in a "significant" brain injury.

As the national broadcaster reports, Symons confirmed his impending return to Breakfast hosting duties, though he has been back at work off-air for the past week.

"It's fine; you can't see any bruises, can you?" he said on ABC Radio Melbourne. "It didn't leak any blood. The brain just rattled around in the skull for a little while, and I'm back."

Symons suffered the injury in early July while walking home from the supermarket before experiencing "a sudden lack of consciousness" that led him to fall and strike his head on the pavement.

His recovery was a steady one, with colleague Jon Faine reporting in late July that he was "doing well" and "[hadn't] lost any function".

Symons will return to the Breakfast chair — a position he has held for almost 15 years — on Monday.
