Rebel Wilson & Rake Among Aussie Winners In US TV Change Ups

With 30 Rock and The Office gone, who will reign US TV?

More Rebel Wilson More Rebel Wilson

Spring time in the US is a time for new life for some TV shows, but the time of death for a number of others. The chopping block has been getting plenty of use over the past week or so at American TV networks, as networks prepare for who they will premiere in the Fall season and who won't be returning to our screens.

NBC favourites The Office and 30 Rock aren't returning – as everyone knew already – though a couple of possibly promising shows will premiere on that same network

The Michael J Fox Show will see the famous comedic actor play a character suffering from Parkinson's Disease – just like Fox is in real life. Though we suspect it'll be closer to Fox's Spin City work than his Curb Your Enthusiasm cameo.

(While we're on the topic of Curb, Jeff Garlin will appear on The Goldbergs – an '80s throwback comedy – on ABC.)

Also premiering on NBC this year is About A Boy; yep, that Nick Hornby Book you read 15 years back that was made into a Hugh Grant film you went and saw on a terrible date back in 2003. It does see Minnie Driver get her face back on tele though, which will please many.

And while they have brought The Voice back, no word yet on whether Fox are going to keep American Idol going for another season; we know our TV blogger is keen.

An American adaptation of Australian drama Rake has been commissioned by the Fox Network, with Greg Kinnear taking the lead role played by Richard Roxburgh in the Aussie version.

Another Aussie who continues to dominate in the US is Rebel Wilson; she'll appear on a new ABC show called Super Fun Night, which she has co-produced with Conan O'Brien, John Riggi (30 Rock) and David Kissinger.

Musical drama Nashville, which is picking up a very small but growing following in Australia, has been renewed for a second season by its network ABC. The show follows Reyna Jaymes (played by Connie Britton – aka Tammy Taylor for those Friday Night Lights fans out there), a Queen Of Country Music.
