The majestic Reb Fountain has returned with her latest album, sharing the commanding How Love Bends today.

Her first album since 2021’s Iris, Fountain’s latest record is a triumphant piece of work that – despite the occasional dark overtones – is immensely positive, focusing on love and how it’s a choice, a perspective, and a source of liberation.

"How I perceive the world and myself changes over time to the degree to which I am prepared to allow it to change,” Fountain explained. “That’s so fucking liberating."

The new record also comes accompanied by the release of a new video for the track He Commands You To Jump Into The Sea. Equal parts hypnotic and arresting, it’s a moody and atmospheric piece of work that sees Fountain leaning into the spoken-word stylings of iconic names such as Patti Smith, Leonard Cohen, or even the more contemporary Sleaford Mods.

The accompanying video is a gorgeous piece of work that leans into the noir folk style of Fountain’s track, with the visual (directed by Lola Fountain-Best) shot at Connells Bay on Waiheke Island in Aotearoa/New Zealand. Focusing on gorgeous scenic landscapes and artworks from some of the country’s finest sculptors, it’s an immense piece of work that invites the viewer to experience liberation as they explore the unknown and unravel the stories not yet told.

Fresh off the back of taking out Best Original Score Believe at the 2024 New Zealand Television Awards for Escaping Utopia alongside Andrew Keoghan, Fountain's new album arrives a few ahead of a series of tour dates throughout New Zealand in April and May.
