The BeatlesLegendary record producer Quincy Jones has issued an official apology for the remarks he made in two revealing interviews with Vulture and GQ in recent weeks.
Jones posted a statement this morning via Twitter that explained how his daughters took him aside for a "surprise family intervention" to set the 85-year-old straight.
"I’m so sorry to anyone who my words offended & I’m especially sorry to my friends who are still here with me & to those who aren’t," Jones said.
One of the more controversial stories that Jones shared that alleged a sexual relationship between Richard Pryor and Marlon Brando, a claim which angered Pryor’s daughter, Rain, who lashed out at Jones via social media but has now accepted his apology.
Other comments made by Jones in the interviews include calling Paul McCartney “the worst bass player I ever heard”, The Beatles "no-playing motherfuckers" and Michael Jackson a "thief".
The producer said that he had stopped drinking several years prior which has caused his recounts to not be the full story that he would have like to convey.
"One of the hardest things about this situation is that, the bad-mouthing has contradicted the very real messages I tried to relay about racism, inequality, homophobia, poverty…"
Jones apology detailed that while he has reached out to his friends privately he felt a “responsibility to be an example” which led to the apology.
