Queensland To Enter Three-day Lockdown From Tonight

Queensland will enter a three day lockdown from tonight. 

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk confirmed at a press conference this morning that from 6pm tonight through to 6pm on Monday those living in Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton, and Redlands must stay home.

"If you are in Brisbane, in those greater Brisbane areas and you may have planned a vacation over this weekend. I’m so sorry, but you will not be able to go," Palaszczuk said.

"You will have to reschedule until Tuesday. Please, everybody, let’s be in this together, let’s stay at home, look at it as a long weekend at home with your family and friends."

The lockdown comes after Brisbane recorded a confirmed case of the "highly infectious UK coronavirus strain".

The lockdowns across the state will see a number of live shows set for this weekend be forced to cancel including Blussh and The Sunset Junkies, while other advertised shows over the next few days include Syrup, Ben Stewart and The Moving Stills.

As ABC reports, South Australia has declared Greater Brisbane a hotspot, with Premier Steven Marshal announcing that anyone entering the state via the region from midnight tonight will need to quarantine for two weeks.

Additionally, the Northern Territory has also announced that anyone entering from Greater Brisbane will be required to quarantine.
