'We do not have the correct approvals to go ahead without facing major fines.'

Queensland bush rave Autumn Equinox has been called off at the last minute after organisers were not successful in gaining council's approval.

The Sunshine Coast Hinterland-based two-day event was set to kick off today, however RGM Entertainment announced the cancellation on Facebook yesterday.

"We have been contacted by council and after discussions with them it has been ascertained that we do not have the correct approvals to go ahead without facing major fines," the statement reads.

"We have been advised that we have insufficient time to submit for the relevant approvals and as such have followed their advice on cancelling the event."
