To go alongside their now released record, 'The Getaway', Red Hot Chili Peppers have released a video clip for the album's lead single, 'Dark Necessities'.

Starring in the smash hit HBO series, Vinyl, actress Olivia Wilde took to directing the new film clip. Photos of the video clip were posted to her Instagram account prior to the video's release. One photo was accompanied with, "Chad Smith tearing up this crazy kit last night after I asked him to play at double the normal speed".

The video itself shows a group of female skaters getting up to all sorts of shenanigans over the course of a single night; stealing, going where ever they want, exposing their various wounds. Basically, they're partaking in "dark necessities", if you will (sorry, I couldn't resist).

Of course, in the usual RHCP fashion, bassist Flea and singer Anthony Kiedis are shirtless. Come on, put a shirt on! Aren't you cold!?

Likewise, there's been an alternate video has been going around lately. As for this darkly lit unofficial clip, it's a powerful look at suicide, the difficult emotions and reasons for the action, and how it affects those that are left behind. The footage used in this secondary clip is actually from a short film called 'A Song For Your Mixtape', filmed by one Brandon Zuck. Let us know which video you prefer.

The band's new album was released yesterday and it's a real mix-up for the band. Working for the first time since 'Blood Sugar Sex Magic' with a new producer, Danger Mouse was brought in to mix things up. Being from a hip-hop background the songs were produced in a totally different way, as such the album has come out quite "differently".
