The new weekly indie club night will be held from Friday 26 October at Oxford Street's Brighton Up Bar, headlined by Step-Panther
Sydney indie club veterans Purple Sneakers are planning a big return to their hometown. Their new weekly party, Discovery, will be held each Friday at Brighton Up Bar on Oxford Street from 26 October.
While recently going from strength to strength in Melbourne and Canberra with their weekly nights Can't Say and Nite Society, the Purple Sneakers brand seemed to wane somewhat in Sydney, beginning with the end of the night's legendary residency at the Abercrombie Hotel in Sydney. Purple Sneakers are hoping Discovery will be a triumphant return to their self-confessed 'spiritual home' of Sydney by focusing on new music from up and coming live bands and DJs while keeping a killer atmosphere and party vibe front and center.
The first Discovery night will feature garage punkers Step-Panther (named as one of The 100 Best New Bands of 2012 by NME) launching their new single 'Maybe Later' live, supported by Bad Dreems and Bored Nothing. Future nights promise to be packed full of many more of the buzzing bands and producers that Purple Sneakers have built their name on.
Doors are at 9pm and it's $15 for general admission. Check out more info here or join Discovery on Facebook to stay up to date.
