Much-loved '80s Sitcom 'Punky Brewster' To Return In 2021

And it's airing very soon.

'80s sitcom Punky Brewster is making its return this year.

The much-loved show originally aired for four seasons from 1984 and starred Soleil Moon Frye as title character Punky Brewster, a young girl that was abandoned by her parents and then raised by foster father, Henry Warnimont (played by George Gaynes).

It's been announced today that Fyre will be returning to the role for the reprised series, alongside Cherie Johnson who will also return to play Punky's friend Cherie.

Freddie Prinze Jr has also been announced for the series, set to play Punky's ex-husband Travis.

"In this continuation of the iconic ‘80s sitcom about a bright young girl raised by a foster dad, Punky is now a single mother of three trying to get her life back on track when she meets Izzy, a young girl in the foster system who reminds Punky a lot of her younger self," reads the new series description.

The show will premiere on 26 February, with all ten episodes available on Stan the same day as the US.
