An instant hit

More Descendents More Descendents

Their first new tune in over a decade, US punk icons Descendents have delivered a short, sharp hit in Victim Of Me, the lead single off their highly-anticipated comeback record, Hypercaffium Spazzinate.

It’s the bands first release since 2004’s Cool To Be You, and coming in at 1:37, is a short, sharp instant hit that delivers satisfaction from the crunchy opening riff.

The new album – dropping July 29 - will see them return to Epitaph, who they last partnered with for 1996’s Everything Sucks record.

“I think one of the things that’s kept us inspired over the years is having the music as an outlet for our frustrations,” frontman Milo Aukerman said.

“Having the freedom to completely blow my voice out every time I recorded was a very positive experience for me.”

The band ended their hiatus in 2010 to perform live again, which saw two Australian tours, and Aukerman – famously depicted as a cartoon for the band’s logo – indeed blew out his voice at the No Sleep Til festival in Brisbane, which rendered a highly entertaining show of special guest singers who were also on the bill.
