Pseudo EchoAustralian rockers Pseudo Echo will return to the stage this year, announcing a massive national tour to celebrate 40 years of their smash hit, Funky Town.
Released in 1986, Pseudo Echo’s cover of Funky Town – originally recorded by the American disco group Lipps, Inc. – became an international success, hitting #1 in Australia and New Zealand and reaching the top ten in charts in Sweden, Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
Touring with a six-piece band, the shows will be packed with hits true to their original sound, offering nostalgia and high-energy vibes for their devoted fans.
The tour begins at The Gov in Adelaide on Friday, 6 February, with the first part of the tour continuing until June. From there, the shows resume in July and continue until Sunday, 15 November, at the Longley Hotel in Hobart. You can find the full list of dates and venues below. Tickets are available now via the Pseudo Echo website.
Reflecting on 40 years of Funky Town, frontman and the band’s co-founder, Brian Canham, said: “It’s kind of surreal to think it’s been that long — one day I was forming a band, and now, 40 years have passed. Even more incredible is that the song and the album still resonate — I’m unbelievably proud of the serendipity behind it, and it’s wonderful to be celebrating it together with our fans on tour.”
One of Australia’s most beloved and enduring bands, Pseudo Echo exploded onto the local charts after their history-making performance on Countdown in 1983, where they became the first unsigned band to appear on the show. The band later signed a record deal with a major label.
