"Gladys Berejiklian will be known as the wrecking ball of NSW politics."

Protesters are expected to rally outside Sydney's Allianz Stadium on Sunday after calls to halt demolition plans until after the NSW state election were rejected.

As Sydney Morning Herald reports, the Local Democracy Matters community group's challenge against the Government's plans to rebuild the Moore Park stadium rather than demolish it were thrown out of the NSW Land and Environment Court.

"Gladys Berejiklian will be known as the wrecking ball of NSW politics," Greens MP David Shoebridge said.

"The wreckers will go in, the stadium’s going to be destroyed."

Canadian artist Michael Bublé was the last music act to perform at Allianz last October, while names such as Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Sia and One Direction have all performed there in recent years.

Other notable concerts at the venue since opening in 1988 includes U2 in 1993 and Pearl Jam in 2009.
