Promoter Blames De La Soul For Axed Melbourne Shows
Promoters say trio did not make contact.
The promoter for De La Soul's Australian tour has put the blame on the veteran rap trio for two Melbourne shows that were cancelled at the last minute over the weekend, as well as the disaster Sydney gig which was shut down within 15 minutes on Friday night.
In a statement given to The Music from PSV Touring, promoters have insisted that they were forced to call off shows yesterday after the group failed to make contact.
"The promoters contacted De La Soul on Saturday to confirm that the remaining shows would go ahead, but with no response, PSV Touring had no alternative but to advise that De La Soul would not be playing," the statement reads.

PSV Touring also addressed the Sydney show at Greenwood Hotel, in which De La Soul's Maseo took to the stage over two hours late, only to be shut down due to curfew shortly after.
"… Whilst comments have been made that the equipment was incorrect, PSV and our production team kept to the technical rider provided by De La Soul prior to the event," the statement continues.
"Furthermore, De La Soul did not show up for their scheduled sound check that evening. That evening, drivers were waiting in the foyer of De La Soul’s hotel from 7.30pm, but the band did not set off until after 11pm and arrived 45 minutes before the hotel’s sound restrictions.
"PSV and De La Soul were all fully aware of these sound limitations as made clear by The Greenwood Hotel well before confirmation of the event.
"The Greenwood Hotel is not at fault for any of the events that occurred on Friday evening. Their operating restrictions were well communicated long before the event was confirmed."
