Progfest ’14 kicks off this month, beginning in Brisbane before hitting Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.
Killyourstereo.com along with Welkin Entertainment present the annual festival.
In the lead-up, we ask artists a series of quick fire questions. We continue with Queensland’s Helm.
What bands are you looking forward to seeing at Progfest?
All of them. But mostly Closure. Have been smashing Pink Lemonade over the last month.
Why should an attendee check out your band during the evening?
Because if you like good live bands, we give it a fair crack at being one.
How important is an event like Progfest to the local scene?
Very. It’s a much needed cog in the machine that continues to attempt to unite people and music on a physical level, a medium that seems close to extinction in some parts of the world.
What is your all-time favourite “prog” album?
Steely Dan, Gaucho.
If you could cover any classic “prog” song, what would it be?
We’re not good enough to cover any worthy prog songs.
What’s the essential attire for an event like Progfest?
Your Birthday suit.
Pink Floyd or Rush?
Floyd.
Genesis or Yes?
Genesis
Tool or Dream Theater?
Tool Theater.
What three celebrities would you love to see in the pit at Progfest?
Oprah Winfrey, Dolph Lungdren & Rodney Rude.
Helm play the Brisbane and Melbourne dates on Progfest.
