New clip from the Melbourne retro-rockers.

More Sun God Replica More Sun God Replica

The new album from Melburnian retro-rockers Sun God Replica is called The Devil And The Deep and its out through Spooky Records tomorrow. In case you didn't already know, the relatively new band have plenty of experience in their ranks, with some very familiar faces making up the power-trio.

We are pleased to premiere the band's clip for the first single from the record, the punchy Shut The Hell Up, which we reckon is a pretty good showcase of the band's sound. Link calls it “John Lennon's Cold Turkey meets T-Rex”, we'll let you decide. Watch it here.

The band is yet another project from Melbourne rock'n'roll master Link McLennan (nee Meanie) who leads the group, with fellow Bakelite Age member Lochie Cavigan on drums and Tim Pickering (aka Lance Swagger) from the Monochromes on bass. They're a heavily 60s/70s influenced band, taking cues from great rock'n'roll bands of those eras and adding their own element of garage psych to proceedings.

As with their 2011 debut Primitive Clockwork the record was made with the inimitable Loki Lockwood of Spooky Records, who release the new LP through that imprint tomorrow. The band have a hometown album launch on the cards soon as well as a few dates with Cosmic Psychos – you can see those dates below – and we're sure they'll make it to a town near you before too long.
