The Sydney goth-pops join forces with Melbourne's premier post-punks for a team effort out this May

We're a big fan of team-ups, and even more so when they involve some of our favourite musicians. Thus, when we heard that ascendant Melburnian post-punks Gold Class were joining forces with Sydney DIY goth-poppers Mere Women for an impending split 7", we knew we had to get in at the ground floor.

Due out in May via Blackwire Records, the two-track split will feature a contribution each from both acts in the form of their respective tracks Standing At The Fault and Numb, both of which The Music is privileged enough to be premiering for you today.

Dark and driven, the songs highlight the communal sonic space in which these acts dwell, though stand distinctly on their own legs through the bands' innate differences. The result is a pair of songs that at once feel like they belong together despite their disparate origins, and instantly raise hopes and expectations for Mere Women and Gold Class to embark on a lengthy run of shows together at some stage in the near future.

To that end, they're at the very least greasing their wheels in their home towns in May, around the scheduled release of the split, hitting Northcote Social Club on Saturday 21 May and Newtown Social Club on Friday 27 May.
