Popular Australian rock act Powderfinger have announced their split this morning.
The Brisbane rockers told a press conference at Sydney’s Annandale Hotel that their upcoming national ‘Sunsets’ tour would be their last as a group.

“We have decided, after much deliberation and agonising, that after this final tour we will call it a day as a recording and touring band,” front man Bernard Fanning said.
Fanning believes the band’s latest album, 'Golden Rule’ symbolised the end of everything the group had to offer.
"We have always maintained that the important factor for us as a group is that our music remains relevant and that we continue to have fresh ideas that inform our new songs. With the completion of our last album, Golden Rule, we feel that we have said all we wanted to say as a musical group,” he said.
