Well deserved!
In the lead up to the 41st edition of the Port Fairy Folk Festival this March, it has today been announced that local artist Neil Murray will receive the 2017 Port Fairy Folk Festival Maton Artist of the Year Award.
The acclaimed songwriter, who featured as a founding member of the Warumpi Band and Neil Murray & The Rain Makers, is being recognised for his 30-plus year career, which includes renowned tracks like My Island Home, Cleverman and Where My People Go, just to name a few.
Murray will perform at this year's festival alongside a string of big name acts that include Paul Kelly and Charlie Owen, The Waifs, Tash Sultana, Marlon Williams & The Yarra Benders and more.
"We salute Neil Murray and thank him for his extraordinary contributions to our cultural world," Port Fairy festival director, Caroline Murray, said.
