Alex LaheyPopular Sydney live music venue Hudson Ballroom will close its doors this month to undergo renovations.
Management of the Liverpool Street venue confirmed this morning that the space will throw one more event this weekend before closing.
"Two and half years ago we took over this iconic live music venue but due to several restrictions, we couldn’t renovate and upgrade this space," a statement posted to the Hudson's Facebook reads.
"This made it really difficult but our priority was to ensure this essential live music space lived on and we’ve been proud to be able to host an amazing list of artists that have performed here as well as some of the most lit club nights in Sydney.
"Now we've been given the green light so we're going to close down while we work to bring you Hudson Ballroom as it was meant to be. It's been a long and hard road but we’ve been able to keep our doors open and that’s thanks to you, the supports of Hudball."

In a statement given to The Music, owner Clark Max said there is currently no time frame for the venue to reopen.
"It’s a heritage listed building so there are some extensive works to be done so we are waiting for them to be completed before we can determine how long it will take for us to upgrade and reopen," Max said.
"We’ve been waiting for this since we took over the venue so we are just glad we’ve been able to hold on 'til now and can’t wait to reopen as we had envisaged it.
"In the meantime, we encourage Sydneysiders to continue to support live music and please visit (and buy a drink or two) at Oxford Art Factory, Brighton Up Bar, The Lansdowne, and hopefully the soon-to-return The Basement."
