Midwest emo/pop-punk outfit (depending on the song) Hot Mulligan have announced their first-ever Australian tour, touching down under in March 2024 with special guests Free Throw.
Starting their debut Australian run at the Lynotts Lounge in Perth on Friday, 1 March, Hot Mulligan will then head to Adelaide, Melbourne, Wollongong, Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane. You can find all the tour dates below.
The Early Bird pre-sale begins on Thursday, 10 August, and general tickets go on sale on Friday, 11 August, at 10 am AEST via Destroy All Lines.
Characterised by passionate sung-screamed vocals, dance-punk and twinkly emo guitars, and a pounding rhythm section that keeps the band together, the band’s third album, Why Would I Watch, released in May 2023, is the perfect blend of vibrant pop-punk and vulnerable emo music. You can listen to the album here.
Nashville outfit Free Throw will also make their Australian debut on all tour dates, promoting their latest and fourth album, Piecing It Together.
After signing to independent emo label No Sleep Records in 2017 – the home of La Dispute, The Wonder Years and Balance & Composure, Hot Mulligan turned to Wax Bodega for the release of Why Would I Watch.

Featuring Fall Out Boy-esque song titles like No Shoes In The Coffee Shop (Or Socks) or John ‘The Rock’ Cena, Can You Smell What The Undertaker or Christ Alive My Toe Dammit Hurts or Cock Party 2 (Better Than The First), you wouldn’t guess that you’re listening to some of the most cathartic emo songs of the year.
Hot Mulligan began touring outside the US for the first time in April, hitting The Garage in London. Staff Writers on Backseat Mafia wrote about their show, “Their set was a showcase of their career, featuring old bangers and newer music including songs from their upcoming album.
“As crowds go, this was also one of the best I’d seen at a gig for a long time, with a majority of the crowd jumping, singing and dancing throughout the entire set.” You can shout and dance to Hot Mulligan’s debut Australian tour dates in March 2024.
