"If you’re sick of Christmas carols & holiday tunes, the best way to get over that is to record your own rock n roll versions and embrace the Christmas chaos."

Polish Club are launching into the festive season with a cheeky cover album and a pair of shows.

David Novak and John-Henry Pajak’s upcoming concept album will arrive with an advent calendar, of sorts, with Polish Club releasing 20 songs in 20 days as part of their Twenty Days of Christmas Stinks exercise. And they’re kicking off Christmas Stinks with a bang: a cover of Wham’s eternal Last Christmas.

Other festive classics that will appear on the album include Feliz Navidad, Jingle Bell Rock, Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree, Paul McCartney’s Wonderful Christmastime, and a fresh re-recording of the duo’s cover of Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You.

The track Ang Aking Pamasko also goes full circle, as Novak shares the microphone with his mother, Eileen, on a Filipino Christmas classic popularised by her band, The New Minstrels, in the ‘70s.

You can pre-order/pre-save the album here ahead of its release date of Monday, 1 December, and check out Polish Club’s take on Last Christmas below.

“I used to be somewhat of an edgelord holiday hater, but I’ve grown to really appreciate how the holiday period affords us a sleep-in, a big belly and some genuine quality time with people you perhaps should spend more time with,” Novak said.

“I’ve also learned that if you’re sick of Christmas carols & holiday tunes, the best way to get over that is to record your own rock n roll versions and embrace the Christmas chaos.”

Contributing further to the Christmas chaos, Polish Club are playing two shows on the East Coast this December. Their Xmas Bowlo Bash will take place at Melbourne’s Thornbury Bowls Club on Saturday, 20 December, and Sydney’s Marrickville Bowlo on Sunday, 21 December. You can find tickets on the band’s website.

Polish Club also have you covered if you’re after some ridiculous stocking stuffers. From tongue-in-cheek tees to socks, stubby holders, cards, car air fresheners, whoopee cushions, and vinyl of their Christmas Stinks! album, there’s plenty on offer. Take a look at the presents here.

In 2023, the duo departed Island Records Australia and entered the next chapter of their career as a fully independent band. Their most recent albums, Heavy Weight Heart (2024) and POUND CAKE (2025), were released through their own record label, Double Double.
