The event is now awaiting approval from Hobart Council

Earlier this week, we reported that the nude swim event that was to take place at the upcoming Hobart festival Dark Mofo had been cancelled.

Now, it looks like it will go ahead, with Tasmanian Police having a change of heart, saying that the event, officially called the Nude Solstice Swim, will go ahead so long as it gets the green light from Hobart City Council.

According to the ABC, Police Minister David O'Byrne said Dark Mofo has made some alterations to the swim, including a location change to Long Beach, which helped sway their minds.

"Once we sat down and we worked through the details of what was taking place, it was deemed acceptable to move it from around the point to this place here which is a little bit more private and we're not right in front of private homes," he said.
