It’s time to get the kids into dance music. Play School is entering the dancefloor with a new album, There’s A Rave In There.
According to a statement, the record transforms the songs of your childhood into high-energy dance tracks. It celebrates nostalgia – of both Play School and different eras of dance music – with its beats, which also draw in the adults.
Keeping the kids happy, each remix offers a playful twist by nodding to the characters Aussie kids grew up watching, such as Humpty, Jemima, and Big + Little Ted.
There’s A Rave In There – produced by Kristy Lee Peters (aka KLP) – arrives as Play School commemorates its 60th anniversary. The children’s favourite series will be celebrated with a special limited-edition yellow vinyl, making for a collector’s dream.
Strictly limited copies are available to pre-order now via Suitcase Records and ABC Music.
The 60th anniversary celebrations continue with a Play School-themed episode of Australian Story on Monday (6 July), which will examine the long-running series’ creative process, its history and future.
The episode will feature conversations from Play School’s cast and crew, including past and present members. The series’ 60-year-history will be showcased, with its evolution front and centre.

Australian Story will feature interviews with Play School presenters including Don Spencer, Justine Clarke, Simon Burke, Jay Laga’aia, Rhys Muldoon and Miah Madden, TV Tonight reports.
Kiddo Mag notes that the anniversary celebrations don’t end there. Alongside the dance album and the Australian Story documentary, a new Play School series is on the way, as are the results of a nationwide toy design competition.
ABC Head of Children and Family Melinda Wearne said of Play School’s milestone anniversary, “For 60 years, Play School has been a cherished part of Australian childhoods, bringing creativity, music and trusted entertainment to families across the country.
“This enduring legacy is a testament to the care that goes into making the program, and we’re incredibly proud to continue creating innovative and joyful content into the future.”
