Plans for tougher anti-terrorism security measures at Melbourne stadiums have been put on hold. 

As Herald Sun reports, measures such as body-scanning technology and a "clear plastic bags" policy were proposed to be implemented at events at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

However, Victoria Police have now said there are "no specific changes" to be introduced.

"That said, the safe entry and exit of patrons from major events is a key planning consideration," a spokeswoman said.

"Police continually review security arrangements with event and venue management to ensure best practice."

It comes after calls for parking at the MCG's major events to be banned in a bid to prevent terror threats.
