Pitbull’s upcoming London gig will see the rapper performing to a record-breaking number of chrome domes – at least, that is if an upcoming attempt goes to plan.

The American rapper is set to perform at BST Hyde Park show on Friday, July 10th as part of his latest trip to the UK. While on ground, however, he’s hoping his fans will break the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps.

The upcoming attempt is set to take place during his gig, with the venue alerting fans who are participating that they “must wear bald caps secured firmly on the head, with hair tucked under at the front and top (hair may hang from the back)”.

“Guinness Book of World Records… Let me tell you how I feel about all the bald-e’s that’s gonna be putting it down on July 10th at London's Hyde Park,” Pitbull said in a statement. “I just wanna let y’all know that every time you put on that bald cap, you know you’re about to have the time of your lives.

“I appreciate the love, I appreciate the commitment, I appreciate the support and more than anything, I just want to say thank you. Dale!”

For those unable to attend, they can tune into a livestream of the event – dubbed the ‘Bald E Watch Party’ – via Pitbull’s YouTube channel.

A press release notes it will be “presented in the style of a major sports broadcast,” complete with “live field reporting and interactive fan moments”, in addition to “fan interviews and behind-the-scenes access”.

Notably, there is no current world record for the largest gathering of people wearing bald caps, so theoretically, this should be an easy one to break.

In 2022, Jim King, AEG Presents’ CEO Of European festivals, explained that the capacity of the BST Hyde Park events was 65,000, though just days ago, Garth Brooks broke the attendance record for the event by performing to 70,000. With Pitbull’s gig sold out, it appears the amount of fans wearing bald caps will potentially number in the tens of thousands.

If fans wearing bald caps at a Pitbull gig sounds familiar, it might be because this trend has only grown in popularity over the years.

Last year, ahead of the musician’s Fridayz Live performance in Sydney, Aussie fans turned out in droves to take part in the Running Of The Pitbulls event, all of them decked out like Pitbull himself.

The same day as the Sydney flash mob, BBC Radio 1 Breakfast host Greg James floated the idea of a world record attempt, with Pitbull soon getting behind the notion himself.
