Fortunes to be released 24 October

Brisbane band Pigeon have just announced the upcoming release of their second EP Fortunes, slated for a 24 October release. Hot off the road in support of the first single Oh Hebe, the five-piece are gearing up second single All That Bad, which has already gained triple j airplay and debuted at number two on the Unearthed charts.

Fortunes is self-produced by Danny Hurley (vocals/guitars/synth) and Nick Kirk (drums/ programming), and was recorded at the band's Brisbane-based studio Acolyte Studios. Reflecting on the new EP, Harley stated that Fortunes is “More mature than (debut EP Parallels), but still has the same features that originally set Pigeon apart from other bands - willingness to genre hop and experiment with different ideas – (with) a more focused core centering around electro-pop.”

The band will then hit the road in November and December for a handful of shows in support of Fortunes, including an appearance at Brigalow Beatz and Peats Ridge Festival to close out the year.

Pigeon has enjoyed a string of successes over the last year, with well received sets at Splendour in the Grass, Peats Ridge Festival. Fat As Butter, Festival of the Sun amongst others, and their first EP Parallels debut at number six on the Australian iTunes Electronic Albums chart with the track Stratosphere nominated for the 2012 Electronic/ Dance QLD Music Award.
