Property development plans shelved

Long-standing Perth club Ambar has confirmed today that they will remain at the same venue after the property development that would have seen the business evicted was shelved.

The future of the nightclub had seemed bleak earlier this year, when a development proposal threatened to displace all the businesses located at 104 Murray Street. Venue managers Boomtick had lined up a new venue should they have been forced to relocate, but will instead close the current venue for the first quarter of the year for renovations.

“The refurb will include a much needed full toilet makeover, as well as slick new furniture and finishes inside the room,” Boomtick's Director Liam Mazzucchelli told theMusic.com.au today. “Ambar has to maintain the feel of an underground 'low tech' space so we'll be mindful of that. Nothing too shiny and bright!”

The capacity of the room will remain the same – around the 300 mark – while Mazzucchelli indicated that there would be “Only some minor tweaks with the music policy – if it ain't broke, don't fix it!”
