Gold Coast alt-rock quartet Peach Fur have announced that they are on an “indefinite hiatus”, due to feeling “drained”.
Posting to Instagram yesterday (November 28), the band wrote:
“We’ve been a bit quiet as of recent. We’ve been tossing up whether to say anything or just keep going but things have run it’s course a bit so we think it’s best to open up..
We started Peach Fur back in 2015, in our last year of high school just as best mates getting together to make some noise n have fun. This has always been our main focus although after doing it for nearly a decade, we are all so burnt out from it.. after Benny taking a step back, later on it sort of brought to our attention how we were all sort of feeling the same in our own different ways.”
Continuing on, the post cited the “juggling act” that smaller musicians have to face daily:
“As many local artists out there know, it can be a bit of a juggling act to balance the music with day jobs and personal lives. We think it’s best to let everyone know that we’ll be taking an indefinite hiatus from it all and get back to ourselves.. & truthfully at this point, we don’t know when or if we’ll be back just yet.

We’re feeling pretty drained in ways although at the same time we feel like we’ve accomplished so much. We’ve had the most epic experiences and wanna thank every one of you that has been a part of the peachy ride 🧡 goodbye for now...
This is all such a mixture of emotions and it’s hard to condense it all into this announcement after all these years but we wanted to get straight to the point. We love you all and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything. Peach Fureva 👫
We’ll be wrapping up in our hometown of the Goldy at Cooly Hotel on NYE! Would love to see ya’ll there for a mega set for the ages. Big love always from us x
Denny, Benny, Mikey, Lemmy, and Ro 🍑”
Peach Fur closed out with a list of people they wanted to thank. You can find the full Instagram post below.
Their announcement was met with a plethora of supportive comments. Even Triple J Unearthed wrote, “Miss u already 💚”.
This announcement comes after a stellar year for Peach Fur, leading the 2024 Mountain Goat Valley Crawl and supporting DICE on tour. A review for The Music at DICE’s Brisbane show said that Peach Fur “absolutely oozes swagger, making you feel lucky to even be in the same room as them.”
“They bring more of a rock vibe to the theatre, and it becomes clear why DICE chose their openers - because they’re a mix of both Peach Fur and Dizzy Days. The crowd has a headbanging good time, screaming along to Funkn Oath as frontman Denny Hilder flips the bird. Hilder has the gravelly voice of a seasoned rocker, and he definitely uses that to his advantage, bringing an extra dimension to their music. Preloved even has the whole crowd swaying.”
We’ll miss you, Peach Fur. Rock on.
