More Paramore More Paramore

Just two weeks after rumours of Paramore apparently heading to Australia in November surfaced on social media, the US pop-punk and rock legends have lit an even bigger fire by directly DMing some of their biggest fans in Australia and New Zealand.

As the Paramore fan account run by a Twitter user named Jen shares, New Zealand fan Rhianna received a Twitter DM from the band at 9:02 am NZST this morning – three hours ago (AEST), which asked for her address.

Fans responding to the screenshot on Twitter revealed that they didn’t receive the same message “when they were doing it with their US fans”. Paramore are currently touring the US and wrap up a ton of tour dates on Wednesday, 2 August. From there, their tour schedule is empty. Perfect for rumoured November Australian tour dates.

On 1 June, Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Brian O’Connor, the co-founder and Chief Innovation Officer of her hair dye company, Good Dye Young, represented their products with an Ulta Beauty takeover event. During the event, Paramore fans were welcome to ask Williams anything.

One fan on Twitter who met Williams asked about potential Australian tour dates and later wrote on Twitter, “I don't know if it's like world tour I just asked for Australia and she said yes in November”.

An Instagram post from the Paramore Brasil fan group further noted that “During today's meet&greet in New York at the GDY event, Hayley confirmed that 'This Is Why' will be a world tour and that dates for shows in Australia will be announced later this year.”

Another fan gave Williams a Speak Now bracelet, in tribute to the Taylor Swift album, with Williams responding, "Let me just say, it comes at a very interesting time that you’re giving me this to wear, that’s all I’ll say”. Five days later, Taylor Swift announced that Williams, along with Fall Out Boy, would appear on the tracklist for her Speak Now (Taylor's Version) album.

“I’m VERY excited to show you the back cover of Speak Now (my version) including the vault tracks and collaborations with Hayley Williams from Paramore and Fall Out Boy,” Swift wrote on social media on 5 June. “Since Speak Now was all about my songwriting, I decided to go to the artists who I feel influenced me most powerfully as a lyricist at that time and ask them to sing on the album.

For our initial story about a potential Paramore Australian tour this November, Kill Your Stereo reached out to representatives for Paramore for comment.

In February, Paramore's sixth album and first in over five years, This Is Why, debuted at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart in its first week. The record also topped the Vinyl Albums Chart, with Pierce The Veil's new album, The Jaws Of Life, right behind them.
