'Coz we're always lurking

TheMusic squad spent the night leaning on bars across Brisbane's Fortitude Valley (and most of today resting our heads on desks) to bring you the latest news from the streets of BIGSOUND:

Which band had a member confess to committing a federal crime on stage? Not sure if he was aware that people charged with the crime can face two years imprisonment. Oops.

"Tash Sultana is so little but she walks around with such swagger, it's like, "dammit, why are you so COOL!"

Did we really see Ecca Vandal jamming it out with DZ Deathrays while The Gooch Palms' Leroy Macqueen fired a t-shirt cannon into the audience?

Some dude bellowed "YASSSS GURLLLLLL" during Clairy Browne's set .

Best finger food of BIGSOUND party circuit so far? Unified's shindig at Up On Constance. (We tried to sneak out a doggy bag.)

The delightful Alan Smithy during his set as he raises a glass of what looks like Vodka and cranberry to his lips: "You thought I'd be drinking beer on stage. But I lashed out because it's BIGSOUND. It's a tax write-off for all of us."

Our fave troubadour of BIGSOUND16 Ryan Downey during his set: "Meeting Batman was a major disappointment."

Which manager politely told another act's manager that their artist needs a bass player?

Sampa The Great is jealous of Briggs' grills.

It was a star-studded scene at Lostboys this morning with Briggs, MoretonTash Sultana and more seen dotted throughout the buzzing cafe. Serious wheeling and dealing was happening in their today.

The acts we've heard most chatter about from Night 1: Tash Sultana, Alex Lahey, Flowertruck, Rainbow Chan, Columbus, Luke Million, Alice Ivy (and her awesome guest freestyler from RaRa), Hideous Sun Demon and Harts (natch).

Our personal fave from Night 1: Ryan Downey. Check out his track Tidings. We've said it before and we'll keep it saying it: THAT. VOICE.

Artists most spotted in the Brunswick St Mall? We call it a tie between Lanks and Ecca Vandal (the latter always in an amazing outfit).

Who wore the loudest shirt? Herald Sun's Mikey Cahill or Hideous Sun Demon?

One of the biggest crowds for BIGSOUND this year, the CFMEU protest:

@beardsound — say no more.
