Jordan Blake, the original vocalist for Lodi, California rockers A Skylit Drive from 2005 until 2007, has died at the age of 36.

The devastating news was confirmed by the singer’s family. No cause of death has been provided; the family ask for privacy at this time.

Blake recorded the She Watched The Sky EP with A Skylit Drive before departing due to health issues that affected his voice.

A Skylit Drive were early pioneers of post-hardcore music, with Blake’s high-pitched cleans and commanding screams making for a fascinating presence in that growing music scene.

After Blake’s departure, A Skylit Drive tried out a few other vocalists, including Dance Gavin Dance's Jonny Craig, the then-Blessthefall vocalist Craig Mabbitt (now Escape The Fate), before Michael "Jag" Jagmin completed the line-up from 2008 until 2016.

The band went on hiatus from 2017 until last year, when the band reformed with the original 2006 line-up, including the return of Jordan Blake. A Skylit Drive celebrated the 15th anniversary of She Watched The Sky and performed at So What?! and Swanfest 2022.

Jonny Craig wrote a tribute to Blake on his Instagram story (via Lambgoat), "This one cuts deep for me. I wanted to help but sometimes our words just aren't enough. Hope you found peace man just sucks you left so many of us hurting: love you man. @jordanblakesees RIP".

"We are overwhelmed with grief to inform you of the loss of Jordan early this morning,” A Skylit Drive wrote on social media yesterday.

“Jordan was a trail blazer in the emo/post hardcore music scene with undeniable passion who loved his fans like family,” the band added.

“When he had a story to tell, you could read it in his lyrics, hear it in his voice, see it his movements and feel it in your depths. We will forever reflect fondly on the memories and music we shared. We love you Jordan, we'll see you down the road brother. ‘Always in our Hearts’.

“We want to respect Jordan's family's wishes for privacy and space to grieve so we will not be commenting until further notice. Thank you all for reaching out and for your kind words. His legacy will live on through all of you."
