“This massive line-up of events will appeal to every music fan."
Local music is set to soundtrack Melbourne’s suburbs, with the widely popular On The Road Again initiative delivering more than 100 live gigs to punters as part of its $4 million metro leg.
Backed by the Andrews Labor Government, the latest celebration of the state’s celebrated live music industry will include gigs, festivals and other events in the coming months.
Among the slew of new events is Southside Live, a free program of live music on St Kilda’s foreshore that will boast the likes of including Adalita, Briggs, Hiatus Kaiyote and more.
Another highlight is Leaps & Bounds + BEYOND 2022 Festival, a mini-festival hosted by Yarra City Council that will showcase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, African and LGBTQIA+ musicians.
Meanwhile, emerging music will be showcased across various venues in Footscray, thanks to the City of Maribyrnong, while Moreland City Council teams with local businesses and venues for a slew of events.

Beloved community radio stations Triple R, Joy FM and PBS will also co-produce live music events across Melbourne.
“On The Road Again has reignited live music in regional Victoria and on the streets of Melbourne’s CBD, and will now kick-start a huge line-up of live music events across inner Melbourne,” Minister for Creative Industries Danny Pearson.
“This massive line-up of events will appeal to every music fan, provide new opportunities for musicians and performers, support local businesses and get our live music scene pumping like never before.”
The metro leg of On The Road Again follows the initiative’s December launch, which included a $5 million program to support live music events in regional and outer suburban areas.
It was then followed by a series of pop-up performances and a massive busking program in Melbourne’s CBD that presented more than 700 street performances and featured the likes of Tones & I, Budjerah, Vika & Linda Bull and more.
