Ollie Wards has announced his next move, with the former triple j content director heading to TikTok

According to Mumbrella, Wards has secured a role with the social media platform where he'll work as their first local director of music.

The role will see Wards take on responsibility for "building partnerships with local artists, talent managers, record labels and distributors to execute campaigns and build music careers across Australia and New Zealand".

“TikTok has become a real force in music discovery for audiences locally and around the world," he told Mumbrella.

"With so much great talent in both Australia and my native New Zealand, there’s a massive opportunity for artists to be discovered and connect with fans on TikTok. I’m excited to be helping with that. I’ll probably not be creating my own dance videos though, I don’t think that’d help anyone!”

The news comes just a week after Wards announced his departure from the youth radio station, where he had worked for ten years.

It was reported at the time that Wards would be taking on new opportunities moving forward, including a TV drama series inspired by his #1 ABC podcast, Unravel True Crime: Snowball.

Wards is expected to commence his role with TikTok at the end of this month.
