Popular American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo has surprised her fans by announcing that she’ll host her very own music festival in August.

Daisy Chain Fields, presented by the drop dead hitmaker, is a festival for the current generation, featuring only female solo artists and women-led bands, following in the footsteps of another women-led festival.

‘90s teens know and remember Sarah McLachlan’s Lilith Fair, which included artists such as Fiona Apple, Sheryl Crow, Erykah Badu, Sinéad O’Connor, Tracy Chapman, Pat Benatar, Susanna Hoffs, Bonnie Raitt, Missy Elliott, and many others.

Lilith Fair travelled through several cities across the US during the summers of 1997 to 1999. It was later revived in 2010. For its initial three-year run, Lilith Fair raised over $10 million for charity.

Now, Olivia Rodrigo is pulling from her ‘90s influences – and not just in terms of music.

Daisy Chain Fields will feature a performance by its host, as well as a line-up of genre-defying women-led acts including Chappell Roan, Bikini Kill, Doechii, Mitski, Garbage, The Breeders, Santigold, and more. Plus, the festival will be home to special guests Karen O, Stevie Nicks, and Sarah McLachlan.

The inaugural event will take place at Great Park in Irvine, California, on Saturday, 29 August, and all net proceeds will go towards charities “dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls.” Fans can sign up for pre-sale access via the Daisy Chain Fields website.

Announcing the festival on Instagram, Rodrigo said, “truly never felt more excited to share a piece of news with you all. i’ve had a dream of doing this festival for years and i am so ecstatic its finally coming true!!”

She continued, “Daisy Chain Fields features an all-women lineup and 100 percent of the net proceeds will go to charities dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls. the lineup is truly insane and full of my heroes and friends.

“i firmly believe that joy, community, and music can be the drivers of meaningful change and I’m hopeful this festival will be just that. I absolutely cannot wait to scream and dance and sing with you guys August 29th!!!!”

Earlier this month, Olivia Rodrigo released her highly anticipated third album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. It debuted at #1 in Australia.

For the first time, she secured a featured artist on one of her albums with one of her heroes, The Cure’s Robert Smith. Following the album’s release, she opened up about the songwriting and themes of the songs with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
