Oh, The Drama! A Preliminary Look At Soundwave Timetables

7 February 2013 | 3:20 pm | Dan Condon

A lot of people are pretty sad about the Soundwave timetables thus far. And, as usual, everyone's an expert.

The first two timetables for the rapidly approaching Soundwave Festival dates have dropped and so have the hopes and dreams of so many young heavy music loving demons, if the reaction on social media is anything to go by.

It's not as if Soundwave boss AJ Maddah wasn't expecting it…

There is a lot to take in, but that's not surprising given the enormity of the 2013 bill, so we'll just examine a couple of different elements of the released times.

Firstly, people upset about the clash between Pierce The Veil and Sleeping With Sirens can chill out right now as that one will actually be rectified.

It's safe to say that, when the timetable dropped last night, quite a few people were a little disappointed with some of the clashes

“Worst cunts,” wrote one passionate supporter.

“CHANGE IT CHAGE IT!!!!” bleated another directly after.

“This sucks balls,” one fan chirped.

“So shit,” was another response.

“REFUND!!!” one man defiantly typed onto the festival's Facebook page. Whether or not he has actually sought a refund remains to be seen, one would imagine he won't struggle getting rid of his ticket to the sold out event.

One lady took it upon herself to speak on behalf of an entire city.

“Please please swap Killswitch Engage or Perfect Circle to another time!!!! Just not fair!!
Many thanks
The brisbane population”

Campbell Newman's office has not made any statement regarding the validity of her right to do so.

“Fucking wankers I can see riots happening in the unforeseen future,” said he who can see the unforseen.

Our favourite is always going to be this old chestnut, though

“Go home, Soundwave. You're drunk,” said one humourous punter with impeccable grammar skills (a rarity, you'll find, if sifting through the responses to the timetable)

So, let's look at what's annoying people…

Rather than expressing joy that Metallica have been granted a two-hour and 15 minute set to close the festival, most seem perturbed that they, in turn, clash with a couple of the bigger punk rock bands on the bill.

A number of suggestions have been made by the brilliant minds on social networks to combat this problem; adding credence to the thought that the people can really achieve anything – from caring about kids with cancer to stopping Kony to putting together the elusive perfect timetable.

Omfg as of clash 3 of the main bands
Wtf talk about a lame way to organise
IMO make some earlier if possibly so people can actually see who they paid for and have to decide between amazing bands
Zz,” was one suggestion.

“WORST TIMETABLE EVER!! Not fair. All big named bands should be on the same stage!!,” said he, the chooser of the big names.

“What would make sense to me in regards to the headliners is to have Blink 182 playing on Stage 1 before or after Linkin Park. Move Crossfaith and The Blackout over to Stage 2 so Blink can still get a longer set,” said a seemingly calmer, but still unhappy, punter.

One thing that fewer people seemed intrigued by, but caught our eye, was this...

Who will it be?

Probably not.

Oh, God. We shouldn't even joke about that...

There are two things we can say for certain after the start of the timetable dramas for Soundwave 2013. Firstly, we're glad it's not us who is putting them together. Secondly, they are never going to please everyone.
