Obscura To Debut Travelling Festival SHRED FEST In Australia In 2026

“This is an insane line-up, and we can’t wait to join this demolition team.”

German technical death metal band Obscura are heading to Australia this September, but it’s not just any old tour.

Instead, the band will debut their festival, SHRED FEST, for their fans Down Under. The line-up represents multiple facets of modern extreme metal, starring American progressive metal outfit Fallujah, Perth death/doom-metal band Ashen, and Sydney old-school death metal group Anoxia. Additional special guests will appear in each city.

And there are plenty of cities SHRED FEST will visit. With underground venues booked across Australia and New Zealand, the bands will perform in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Darwin, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Hobart. SHRED FEST marks the continuation of Obscura’s A Sonication World Tour, which began last year and will continue into 2027. The festival made its North American debut in 2025.

The upcoming tour marks Obscura’s longest tour of Australia and New Zealand, and their most ambitious venture in the region. According to a statement shared on social media, fans can expect a comprehensive setlist, with Obscura focusing on A Sonication and other selected material.

“We’re thrilled to bring Shred Fest to Australia in 2026 alongside the crushing talents of Fallujah, Anoxia, and Ashen,” Obscura commented in a press release. “It’s been a long time coming, and we're ready to deliver a relentless set for our fans down under.

Fallujah added, “We’re stoked to announce that Fallujah will return to Australia once again in 2026, this time alongside prog metal legends OBSCURA! We can’t wait to head back down under with a heavy selection of songs from our new album ‘Xenotaph.’ These shows will be crazy, get your tickets now before they sell out!”

The local heavy acts also shared statements about the festival.
