NT Rapper Unleashes Fury Over Festival Snub

NT rapper Skank MC has let loose his frustrations over missing a spot on the 2013 Bass In The Grass festival bill.

According to NT News, the hip hop artist, real name Hugh Winterflood, unleashed a Facebook tirade against Major Events Minister Matt Conlan for overlooking him.

"I hope you made a good choice regarding local acts because you have done yourselves a major disservice by not short listing me at Bass In The Grass," said Winterflood.

"I hope the thrashy trashy hardcore band you have chosen has a positive message and stories about the NT, cos you won't be hearing mine.

The rapper, who once told theMusic.com.au he was the “hip hop Slim Dusty” continued, saying that the acts chosen by Conlan didn't truly represent the local community.

"Hey Matt Conlan, not one band has been chosen from Alice Springs. Isn't your office in Alice Springs? Lol! bit funny.”

"Alice Springs get fuck all Gov sponsored events, quite simply because they make no money off us."

Conlan responded against the tirade with, "all 25 acts, including yours, are all extremely talented and I'm sure could all hold their own at Bass in the Grass. However at the end of the day, unfortunately there is only room for two.”

The artists that were selected to represent NT are Chasin' Aces and My Team Dilemma.

UPDATE: Skank MC has since got in touch with theMusic and had the following to add to the matter:

"As the premier contemporary music event in NT, and considering Alice doesn't have a similar event, that Bassinthegrass should have a policy stipulatin' that at least 4 local bands play, from ACROSS the NT."

"The Centre has never had a band accepted to play on such a large scale event. Two bands from Alice, myself included played at Big Day Out this year and we both didn't get a spot, I think Matt Conlan is out of touch with the NT music scene, and they also like to save money on transport."

"This is not taking away from the bands selected, there just should be more representation of the entire scene, My Team Dilemma are dope, and I wish them lucking rocking with sixty and Illy... And I'm out, I hope next year there is a change, thought with the change in gov last year it would have happened already."
