Because, um...why not?
It's considered as one of the most iconic songs in Australia and has even been dubbed as the unofficial national anthem but, seemingly out of nowhere, John Farnham's classic You're The Voice has been covered by a Norwegian heavy metal singer.
Jørn Lande, best known as the former frontman of bands including Ark, Millenium and Vagabond, has just dropped a new solo covers album, Heavy Rock Radio, which features his version of the 1986 track, as well as covers of other massive hits including Queen's Killer Queen and The Eagles' Hotel California.
Choosing Farney's song may come as a shock to some people, however it should be noted that You're The Voice performed exceptionally well not only in Australia (peaked at #1), but also on a number of international charts including Germany (peaked at #1), Sweden (peaked at #1), Ireland (peaked at #3), Switzerland (peaked at #3), Austria (peaked at #6) and UK (peaked at #6).
